------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It's hard to overstate my satisfaction...
Chell's first thought was, He's heavier than I remember.
Her second was, Wow, didn't know that would happen.
Her third was interrupted by the soft moaning of an unconscious Wheatley, who had collapsed onto her lap after commenting on his new smell, and an annoyed-sounding GLaDOS… Again.
"I thought I heard a moron. Chell, was this you?" She asked accusingly.
Chell quickly craned her head to face the camera and shook her head no. Then, frowning, she nodded. Finally, she shrugged with exasperation.
GLaDOS sighed, but when she spoke again, her tone this time was wonder and complete disbelief. "Now, that's different. He came through a portal on the moon and turned… human?"
Chell nodded.
"Even I couldn't have predicted this, and to be honest, I'm the smartest AI there is. It must've been a side effect from something. I'll just cut him open, run some tests…"
She stopped as Chell furiously started shaking her head no.
"Chell. You're not in charge anymore. I am no longer a potato. Why do you want to save him?" She asked, but didn't wait for an answer. "But I guess since this idiot has given me something to do for the past two years, I can let him alone. For now."
Chell smiled. Her plan had been worth the risk. GLaDOS was more human than ever.
This time, Chell was listening for the click of the camera.
Click
There it was. She scrambled up and kicked Wheatley in the stomach. He bolted awake.
"What was that for?!"
Chell crossed her arms and looked down at him.
"Oh, yeah…"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Aperture Science…
Chell stepped away to let Wheatley stand up. Wheatley wobbled a bit on his legs, then fell down. Chell rolled her eyes and hefted him up. This time, the AI-turned-human stayed steady.
"There. How's that?" He smiled lopsidedly.
Chell just looked at him.
Wheatley sighed. "I'm sorry, Chell, really I am. There hasn't been an hour when I didn't think about what I did to you. I betrayed you. I was the bossy one, the monstrous one- I was even worse than GLaDOS. I didn't realize how being in GLaDOS' spot would affect me. I wasn't ready for it. I am truly sorry."
Chell's face softened a bit. She took his hand, picked up the gun, and led him to the elevator she used to get back up to her new room. She watched the door close and the lab move, while Wheatley looked at everything that had changed since he left. It was now a combination of the new and the old. The floors were all white, except for the patches of light gray where you couldn't shoot portals. The walls of the new testing rooms were pale blue, and the tops were black. The elevators were still see-through, but the tops, the bottoms, and the door were all stark white. He guessed the more calming atmosphere of the place was Chell's work. With a soft chime, they reached Chell's room.
When the door opened, he was surprised at how much it looked like a testing room at first. Then he realized the floor was white carpet, and the only door leading in or out was the elevator, completely different from the door that was used to go from room to room in a level. The furniture in the room was a twin bed, an armchair, a bookshelf, a mini fridge, a mirror, cracked in half, and a small, child-sized oven. There were also two silver hooks hanging from the wall, which Chell put the portal gun on. She waved him toward the mirror, anxiously making sure she had set the gun on right.
Wheatley shrank back and she waved him on again, more urgently this time.
But… what will I see?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------We do what we must, because we can…
I'll be honest- eventually, this WILL be Chelley.
And Wheatley is human.
...
No one hate me. ^^;
